Progress Report on Masonic Monument Project

Just a short note to bring each of you up-to-date as to the status of fund-raising for the Monument to be erected at the RI Veterans' Cemetery in honor of our Brethren who have faithfully served our country in times of peace and conflict. As of the date I am writing this article (August 4th) Grand Lodge has received $50,039.47 in contributions and interest on funds deposited. We have firm commitments for an additional $29,600 and have been informed by one of our members that his firm will do the excavation and backfilling work for the foundations of the monument as a donation. This leaves us short of our goal by about $25,000 when one deducts the estimated cost for excavation work from the estimate of $110,000 for the entire project.
